What Deadlock Vault collects, why, how long it keeps it, and how to change your cookie choice.

Updated 25 October 2026

This page explains what Deadlock Vault (deadlockvault.net) collects when you use the site and what we do with it. The short version: we only use analytics cookies if you say yes, we never sell data, and there are no ads or accounts.

Analytics (only if you accept)

If you choose Accept on the cookie banner, we use Google Analytics to see which pages are useful and what people look for. This sets cookies (named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID) and sends Google:

  • the pages you visit and how you got to the site
  • your device type, browser and approximate location (country and city)
  • things you do on the site, like searches, filters you use, tooltips you open and guides you finish

Google Analytics doesn't store your IP address. We use this only as statistics about the site, never to identify you.

If you choose No thanks, no analytics cookies are set. Google may still receive basic, cookieless signals (for example that a page was viewed) that can't be linked to you.

You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page.

Problem reports

If you send a report with the Report a problem box, we keep what you wrote, the page you were on, your browser type, and the contact details you chose to leave, if any. Reports are stored in our content system and shared in a private chat the site's owner uses to fix problems. We delete reports within 12 months of dealing with them.

Server logs

Like most websites, our servers briefly log requests (your IP address, the page, the time and your browser) to keep the site secure and working. These logs are deleted after 30 days.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell or share your data with advertisers.
  • We don't show ads.
  • We don't have accounts, so we don't hold passwords or profiles.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask to see the data we hold about you, ask us to delete it, or withdraw your consent for analytics. To do any of these, use the Report a problem box and choose "Something else". You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Changes

If this policy changes, this page is updated and the date at the top changes.
