The map
Deadlock Unstable Rift
The Unstable Rift opens around 11:00 on a side lane's bridge. Stand in the circle with no enemies in it for 12 seconds and your team gets 1,482 souls or more, plus a push of strong Rift Troopers.

- An effect appears on the lane. About a minute later the whole map is told, and 20 seconds after that the Rift opens.
- Anyone in the zone shows up on the minimap, so you can't hide in it.
- Your team makes progress as long as one of you is in the zone. More players don't make it faster.
- Enemies in the zone make progress too, but nobody can finish until one team is alone in it.
- Win it and the souls are split across your team at once. Rift Troopers then come down that lane, one every half second.

Quick answers
Unstable Rift questions
- When does the Unstable Rift spawn in Deadlock?
- The first opens at about 11:00, up to a minute either way. Each later one opens about 7:00 after the last one ended, also a minute either way.
- Where does the Unstable Rift spawn?
- On the bridge of a side lane, York (Yellow) or Greenwich (Green), picked at random. An effect appears on that lane before it opens, so you get some warning.
- How long does the Rift take to capture?
- 12 seconds. A team far behind takes 6 seconds and a team far ahead takes 18. The full change applies at a 15% net worth gap, and it doesn't matter how many of your team are in the zone.
- How many souls does the Rift give?
- 1,482 up to minute 13, then +222 a minute. That's 3,036 at 20:00 and 5,256 at 30:00, split equally across the team and paid at once.
- What happens if both teams are on the Rift?
- Both teams keep making progress, but you can only finish it with your team alone in the zone. If it stays contested for 60 seconds it ends in a draw: 13 orbs drop for either team to collect, and no Rift Troopers come.
- What are Rift Troopers?
- Bigger, black troopers that join the winning team's push in the Rift's lane. There are at least 5, and up to 14 for a team that's behind. They drop no souls.
