The map
Crates and statues
Crates drop souls 60% of the time, tough crates always do, and Golden Statues have a 50% chance to drop a permanent buff. Most of them appear at 3:00 and come back 3:00 after they're broken.
Three kinds
What's inside
Crates and boxes
Also vases, jars, barrels and lion statues
60% chance of 23 +1.8 a minute. Break them with anything: shots, melee, abilities, or a dash or slide through them.
Tough crates
Teal, with metal edges
Always drop 46 +3.6 a minute. Heavy melee is the only way in. Puddle Punch, Rend and Bashdown don't work, but the knights from Paige's Rallying Charge do.
Golden Statues
Also called Buff Containers
50% chance of a permanent buff. Break them the same way as crates. Grab it quickly: the buff stays on the ground for 30 seconds.
Dropped souls stay for 5:00 and arrive as haunted souls. Their value grows from the very start of the match, so a crate at 20:00 pays far more than one at 3:00.

Permanent buffs
Each statue drop is one of these. The level depends on the match time when it drops, and you keep the buff for the rest of the match.
| Buff | Level 1 (from 0:00) | Level 2 (from 10:00) | Level 3 (from 30:00) | Share of drops |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Spirit Power | +2 | +3 | +4 | 10% |
| Fire Rate | +1.5% | +2% | +2.5% | 10% |
| Max Ammo | +3% | +5% | +7% | 10% |
| Bonus Health | +15 | +20 | +30 | 20% |
| Cooldown Reduction | +0.5% | +0.75% | +1% | 10% |
| Weapon Damage | +3% | +4% | +6% | 10% |
| Bullet Resist | +0.5% | +0.75% | +1% | 10% |
| Spirit Resist | +0.5% | +0.75% | +1% | 10% |
| Ability Range | +0.25% | +0.5% | +0.75% | 5% |
| Move Speed | +0.1 m/s | +0.2 m/s | +0.3 m/s | 5% |
Drops are pseudo-random, so over ten buffs you should see close to these shares.
Timers
When they appear
| Area | First up | Back after | How many |
|---|---|---|---|
| Most of the map | 3:00 | 3:00 | 552 |
| Tunnels | 5:00 | 5:00 | 81 |
| The room under Times Square | 10:00 | 3:00 | 16 |
| Bell Tower and Sunken Plaza | 5:00 | 3:00 | 20 |
A drop nobody picks up can delay that spot's respawn, and respawns can run a little late.
Quick answers
Crate and statue questions
- What is inside crates in Deadlock?
- Souls. A normal crate, box, vase, jar or barrel drops 23 souls, plus 1.8 a minute, 60% of the time. Tough crates always drop souls, and pay 46 souls, plus 3.6 a minute.
- What do Golden Statues drop?
- One of 10 permanent buffs, 50% of the time. Bonus Health comes up twice as often as most, and Ability Range and Move Speed half as often. They are also called Buff Containers.
- How do you break a tough crate?
- Only with a heavy melee. Melee-like abilities such as Puddle Punch, Rend and Bashdown don't work, though Paige's Rallying Charge knights can break them.
- How do you break a normal crate?
- Almost anything works: punch it, shoot it, hit it with an ability, or dash or slide through it.
- How long do crates take to respawn?
- Most come back 3:00 after they're broken. Those in the tunnels take 5:00. A drop left on the ground can hold up the respawn.
- Do crate souls count as haunted souls?
- Yes. You can lose them if you die before they turn into normal souls.
- How many crates are on the Deadlock map?
- 669 in all: 423 crates and boxes, 78 tough crates and 168 Golden Statues.
