Spirit power is the stat that makes abilities hit harder. If your hero relies on abilities more than their gun, spirit power is the number you are building. Right now 108 values across 92 hero abilities grow with it.
What it does
A value that scales with spirit power has a base and a multiplier. The base is what you get with no spirit power at all. The multiplier is how much each point of spirit power adds on top. On this site, values that scale show a purple tag like "×0.6 Spirit".
Reading the numbers
Take Napalm on Infernus: damage 40, multiplier ×0.6. Multiply your spirit power by 0.6 and add it to 40:
| Spirit power | Sum | Damage |
|---|---|---|
| 0 | 40 + 0 × 0.6 | 40 |
| 25 | 40 + 25 × 0.6 | 55 |
| 50 | 40 + 50 × 0.6 | 70 |
| 100 | 40 + 100 × 0.6 | 100 |
| 150 | 40 + 150 × 0.6 | 130 |
Every ability page on this site has the same table worked out for you, at every upgrade tier. It's the quickest way to see whether an ability is worth building around.
Where spirit power comes from
- Boons. Every level-up adds a little spirit power. It's small, but it is free and it keeps coming all match.
- Spirit items. Many purple items give spirit power directly, often alongside cooldown or range.
- The spirit shop bonus. Spending souls on spirit items raises your spirit power on top of the items. See the shop bonus table.
Other scaling stats
Spirit power isn't the only thing that changes an ability. Many abilities also respond to:
- Cooldown reduction, which shortens how long you wait between casts.
- Ability range, which stretches how far an ability reaches or how big its area is.
- Ability duration, which makes slows, stuns, buffs and damage over time last longer.
Items that raise these stats are in the spirit section of the shop too, which is why spirit builds often mix them with raw spirit power.
Abilities that scale hardest
These damage values gain the most per point of spirit power. A high multiplier means the ability gets much stronger as you build spirit.
| Ability | Hero | Base | Per point | At 100 spirit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lethal Venom (max venom damage) | Vyper | 140 | ×2.79 | 419 |
| Itani Lo Sahn (delayed damage) | Apollo | 200 | ×2.6 | 460 |
| Hyper Beam (damage per second) | Bebop | 160 | ×2.51 | 411.1 |
| Binding Word (damage) | Warden | 110 | ×2.44 | 353.73 |
| Seismic Impact (damage) | Abrams | 100 | ×2.33 | 332.5 |
| Assassinate (max bonus damage) | Vindicta | 90 | ×2.3 | 320 |
| Sleep Dagger (damage) | Haze | 65 | ×2.2 | 285 |
| Rising Ram (damage) | Billy | 40 | ×1.9 | 230 |
| Power Slash (full charge damage) | Yamato | 145 | ×1.85 | 330 |
| Feed The Birds (barragemaxdamage) | Baba | 450 | ×1.6 | 610 |
| Pillow Toss (damage) | Rem | 75 | ×1.6 | 235 |
| Naptime (wake damage) | Rem | 120 | ×1.6 | 280 |
A big multiplier isn't the whole story. Cooldown, area and how often you can land the ability matter just as much, so compare this with the ability's own page before you commit to a build.
Quick answers
What does spirit power do in Deadlock?
Spirit power makes abilities stronger. Most ability damage, and some healing, shields and other values, go up by a set amount for every point of spirit power you have. 92 abilities scale with it.
How do you get spirit power?
From boons (every level-up gives a little), from spirit items in the shop, and from the spirit shop bonus you earn by spending souls on spirit items.
How do you read spirit scaling?
The multiplier is how much each point adds. Napalm deals 40 damage with a ×0.6 multiplier, so at 100 spirit power it deals 100.
